Indianapolis, IN – Tiffanie Purvis Esq. of Montgomery, Alabama, recently received the prestigious honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Rising Star Award at the National Conference on Philanthropic Planning.

The Rising Star Award is given to a newcomer to the field of charitable gift planning with recognizable talent and potential. The work of charitable gift planning is ever changing and expanding, this award encourages recipients to consider a lifelong pursuit of the field and continue active membership in their local councils and national association.

Purvis is a Planned Giving Officer at Southern Poverty Law Center and a member of the Alabama Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

Purvis holds a juris doctor degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, where she graduated with honors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from North Carolina A&T State University, where she also graduated with honors. She admitted to the Georgia Bar.

Her nominee stated, “Tiffanie embodies the term “rising star” with her main responsibilities centered on cultivating and guiding supporters to include the [Southern Poverty Law Center] in their estate plans.”

At Southern Poverty Law Center, Tiffanie has completed an abundance of trips to several different states for personal visits with over 229 donors and guided at least 57 donors to completed estate gift plans using bequests, trusts, gifts of life insurance, IRA gifts, cash & stock accounts, annuities, stock gifts and mutual funds.

Tiffanie came to the Southern Poverty Law Center from a real estate law firm, RBBS, LLC, in Atlanta during which time she had also maintained her own practice, Law Offices of Tiffanie N. Purvis, focusing on estate planning.

Outside of work, Purvis has volunteered with Georgia Legal Aid, through the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) Wills Project to provide estate-planning needs to low-income individuals.

Tiffanie participates in her local chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals and is in charge of its newsletter and communications. She is currently studying and taking steps to apply for CFRE status with the chapter’s guidance.
