Indianapolis, IN -- The Philanthropic Planning Group of Greater New York (PPGGNY) was awarded the honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Council of the Year.

The CGP Council of the Year award recognizes a council that demonstrates significant achievement in the preceding year. This award celebrates innovative programming, special events, membership growth, community impact and other areas of contribution to the charitable gift planning field.

PPGGNY was established in 1972 and is a professional association for advocates of charitable giving. They offer a wide range of networking and educational opportunities to widen the reach of their members and raise awareness of current issues in the world of philanthropy. Their educational and training opportunities are designed to strengthen professional knowledge and provide innovative tools to better serve clients, donors, and the charitable foundations and organizations that connect us.

PPGGNY undertook several significant programs this past year, including the launch of PPGGNY University, a one-stop shop to learn about the field, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative, to create meaningful, substantial, immediate, and institutionalized change. They adapted to the challenges presented by Covid-19 by replacing in person events with virtual networking, Zoom seminars, and adding sessions on career development.

“PPGGNY has an obligation to the Planned Giving profession and our Council to engage with a newer generation of Planned Giving Officers who care about impact, and want to be engaged in creating meaningful, lasting change and we plan on being there every step of the way,” said nominator Meryl Cosentino

PPGGNY stays abreast of changing tax law and regulations that affect philanthropy and provide quick access to current charitable giving resources. Their speakers and educators are top industry leaders from across the nation. They encourage their members to be involved by volunteering their time and talent on various committees where ideas, skills, and experience will get you noticed. PPGGNY is a committed partner supporting the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.
