Press Release: Diana Y. Kim receives National Association of Charitable Gift Planners Rising Star Award

Indianapolis, IN -- Diana Y. Kim, MPH, JD of Honolulu, Hawaii recently received the prestigious honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Rising Star Award.

The Rising Star Award is given to a newcomer in the field of charitable gift planning with outstanding talent and potential. The work of charitable gift planning is ever changing and expanding; this award encourages recipients to consider a lifelong pursuit of the field and continue active membership in their local councils and national association.

Diana is the Associate Director of the Office of Estate and Gift Planning at the University of Hawai’i Foundation, where she provides estate and gift planning support to University of Hawai’i.

Diana received her Juris Doctor from the William S. Richardson School of Law, her Master’s in Public Health (MPH) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. Diana is also a Lecturer for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources.

During her legal education, Diana was selected as the 2013 Patsy T. Mink Legislative Fellow and worked for Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa in Washington, DC. Diana was also selected as the 2016 James K. Hoenig Judicial Fellow for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Family Law and was an extern for Senior Family Court Judge R. Mark Browning.

Diana gained international recognition for her project “The Homeless Paradise,” where she photographed people living on the streets of Hawaii. A project that lasted over 10 years that became a unique story. In recognition of her advocacy for people who are homeless, Diana was selected as a recipient of the Rare Under 40 Award in Washington, D.C. 

Diana attributes her success throughout her time at UH Mānoa to the many scholarships and fellowship opportunities that were made possible by charitable donors and the UH Foundation.
