8 Cool Ways Your Donors Can Give With CRTs

Gregory Baker

Over the past decade, fewer charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) were created due to lower income and capital gain tax rates and the slower economy. As a result, gift planners and major gift officers need to remember (or learn for the first time) how to identify ways to use CRTs and how to talk about CRTs with their donors. Higher tax rates and increased market values are two key factors that will influence donors to create many, many CRTs in the next few years. This session will use the case study method to list 8 donor fact patterns and then describe how using a CRT helped solve the donor's financial roadblock to making that significant charitable gift. If any of your donors own businesses, hold a stock portfolio, have a retirement plan, invest in real estate or might get divorced, then you will learn something useful at this session.
